Seneca Knight Begins Professional Basketball Career with Valmiera in Europe

The 23-year-old guard played the last five seasons in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), where he averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0, 7 steals and 0.4 blocked shots. The defender will play with number 17 in the Valmiera team.

In total, Knight played in the starting five in 83 of 125 NCAA games and averaged 27 minutes per game.

“I am more than excited about the opportunity to start my professional career in Valmiera. I really appreciate the club’s faith in my abilities. I am determined to achieve all the goals I have set, both individually and with the club, no matter what,” the unit quoted Knight as saying.

“The people of Valmiera love basketball and I know that the upcoming season will be exciting. I can’t wait for it!”

Knight was also invited to seven NBA teams’ pre-draft workouts this summer. However, he was not selected in the NBA draft, later choosing to start his professional career in Europe.

“Glad that Seneca [Naits] will start his professional career directly in Valmiera. He has proven himself in college basketball as a solid player who can be productive in several positions, as well as take on the role of a leader,” says Valmiera club general manager Roberts Zeile. “We believe that he will be able to show his best side.”
