Sandro Mamukelashvili has revealed that he has considered a return to Europe this summer. As a free agent, the Georgian has signed a new contract to return to San Antonio next season, which is an annual contract worth about 2 million dollars. In recent weeks there had been talk of the interest of several EuroLeague clubs, including Panathinaikos. “Of course, I’ve had several EuroLeague teams interested in me, but I want to stay in the NBA,” he told BasketNews. “I want to show everyone that right now I’m an NBA player. European doors are never closed and I like watching the EuroLeague. I know how good the level is. I don’t know if it will ever happen, but if it happens, I hope to come back sooner or later. At the moment my head is thinking about the NBA, I want to show everyone that I can be an NBA player and that I belong in this league.”

Mamukelashvili, 54th pick in the 2021 Draft, began his career in Milwaukee where he played for a year and a half. The Bucks cut him last March and he was recalled by the Spurs with a two-way contract: in San Antonio he played 19 games averaging 10.8 points per game in 23.3 minutes with also 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
