According to information from Sport Bild, top candidate Sami Khedira will not become sports director of the German Football Association. As the magazine reports, talks about signing the 2014 world champion failed. Khedira wanted to bring “at least one employee” with him and presented salary expectations that would have further burdened the financially ailing DFB. Khedira (36) was considered the hottest candidate for the vacant position of DFB sports director, after the 2024 European Championship finals in Germany he could have inherited national team director Rudi Völler.
