Salta’s Youth Athletes Gear Up for the Evita Games with Added Judo Athletes

August 22, 2023 – 01:51 Judo added its athletes to the delegation that has already qualified in most disciplines.

The great mass of youth sports from Salta is preparing to live the challenge of every year: the Evita Games. Some still have the illusion of joining the huge delegation from Salta that will compete from September 25 to 30 in Mar del Plata, for others that place is already assured after having successfully passed the provincial instance.

The national stage of the Evita will bring together thousands of athletes between the ages of 12 and 18 divided into the following categories: sub-14 (12 and 14 years), sub-15 (13 and 15 years), sub-16 (15 and 16 years), sub-17 (16 and 17 years) and sub-18 (less than 18 years).

Like the Olympic Games, each sports association or federation defines the classification system for the national finals and has the support of the Sports Secretariat. Last weekend the classifieds in some disciplines were defined and they are added to those who had already achieved their passage in previous competitions.

The Salteña Judo Federation carried out the provincial selective in the Italian Society. After several contests, the women’s team was made up of Tania Rivero (44 kg), Rosario Miranda (48 kg), Ema Mercado (53 kg), Delfina Parra (58 kg) and Candelaria Chocobar (64 kg). Meanwhile, on the men’s side, José Daza (44 kg), Alan Torres (48 kg), Milton Enríquez (53 kg), Hernán Días (58 kg) and Ángel Santillán (64 kg) classified.

In parallel, the Provincial Tournament for novices was held with the participation of one hundred judokas. The Italian Society team finished first, the Jigoro Kano school second, and the representatives of the Joaquín V. González school third.

On the rugby side, Tigres RC qualified to compete in the under-16s in Mar del Plata. In volleyball the teams are also defined; Villa 20 de Febrero and CEF will compete in the sub-17 and sub-15, respectively, in the female branch, while Libertad won the provincial selective for men in the same categories.

Other people from Salta who will compete in Mar del Plata will be Matías Aquino, Rubén Cajal, Victoria Nazr Caputto, Zaira Nazr Caputto (all in aquathlon), Octavio Alancay, David Zerpa, Ailén Fernández and Jazmín Lagoria (in triathlon). In hockey, boxing, athletics, artistic gymnastics, breaking, tennis and cycling there are also defined representatives.

In 2022, the Salta delegation was made up of 750 young athletes and obtained 84 medals, surpassing the records of 2018 with 63 medals and 2019, with 67 medals.

Salta was also a protagonist once again in adapted sports and obtained 52 medals of which 17 were Gold, 18 Silver and 17 Bronze. While in conventional sports he garnered 8 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals.
