Russian super talent? He approves of atrocities in Ukraine. And you don’t care, rages the Ukrainian woman

The overwhelming majority of Russian and Belarusian representatives can only participate in tennis and other events as neutral athletes. However, the organizers of the ongoing tournament at Sparta Livesport Prague Open in Prague did not allow the start of players whose countries are directly or indirectly involved in the aggression.

The Russians Diana Šnajderová, Polina Kuděrmětovová, Erika Andrejevová, Jevgenija Rodinová and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovičová were originally supposed to perform in Stromovka.

However, in the vast majority of tournaments, male and female tennis players are allowed to participate under the condition of neutrality. It was the same at the recently concluded tournament in Lausanne, Switzerland. In it, the Ukrainian tennis player Dajana Jastremská met in the first round and one of the greatest talents of contemporary tennis, 16-year-old Mirra Andrejevová, who, among other things, ended her pilgrimage with this year’s Wimbledon to Barbora Krejčíková.

In the end, the Ukrainian lost to her opponent easily in two sets, but the posts of the Russian wonder on social networks were much more than just two played games for the twenty-three-year-old tennis player. On Instagram, the native of Krasnoyarsk repeatedly expresses her support for Vladimir Putin and his brutal war effort. Because of this, Jastremská asked the WTA management to punish the Russian tennis player, but she did not meet with success.

“The situation is incomprehensible. Tennis officials don’t care at all what Russia is doing in Ukraine. Some time ago I asked that Andreyeva be punished for appreciating and “liking” posts that depict and describe Russian atrocities against Ukrainians. But to the authorized authorities it doesn’t matter, they don’t do anything about it. I’m angry, but I will never stop fighting for my country, for my family, for my friends,” Jastremská said on social networks.

Mirra Andrejevová is the 62nd player in the world and is the youngest tennis player with such a high ranking. Czech Brenda Fruhvirtová is only a few days older.

Jastremská has drawn attention several times in the past to war crimes committed by Russia in its neighbor’s country. “Look at it. Or do you prefer to see it with your own eyes and visit Ukraine? Maybe then you will change your attitude towards Russia. Some are sleeping contentedly, some are just trying to survive. That’s how it is,” wrote the tennis player of the hard-tested country.

Dajana Jastremská also took part in the ongoing Livesport Prague Open, but her journey ended already in the qualification when she was not good enough for compatriot Baindlová.
