Madrid. The resignation of Luis Rubiales is imminent at the head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in the Extraordinary Assembly of the institution that will be held today, due to the forced kiss he gave to the forward of the selection Jennifer Hermoso during the ceremony of award of the final of the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia won by The Red last Sunday in Sydney, and the inappropriate festivities he threw in the box.

In any case, to this string of complaints against him, now adds a sanctioning action by FIFA, which issued a statement announcing that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee informed Rubiales of the opening of a disciplinary proceedings against him based on the events that occurred during the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup last Sunday, August 20, 2023. He maintains that these events could constitute violations of articles 13.1 and 13.2 of the Disciplinary Code of the FIFA, that is, those that establish that the associations and clubs, as well as their players, officials and any other member and/or person who carries out a function on their behalf, must respect the rules of the game, as well as the statutes of and FIFA rules, regulations, directives, guidelines, circulars and decisions, and comply with the principles of fair play, loyalty and integrity.
It is pointed out that it sanctions all those who violate them, either violating the basic rules of dignified conduct, which include cases such as insulting a natural or legal person in any way, especially using gestures, signs or offensive language or using a sporting event to non-sporting events.
The forceful statement from FIFA was added to more criticism from the Spanish Executive, chaired by the socialist Pedro Sánchez, who until now had been one of Rubiales’ main supporters in office.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, warned that the RFEF will apply measures and decisions. If the federation does not take them, the CSD will.
In addition, the minister of the presidency, Félix Bolaños, one of the men closest to Sánchez, warned that the government will act if the events expected in the extraordinary assembly are not confirmed, that is, if the dismissal or resignation is not confirmed.
