Ronald Acuña Jr. Praises Brother Luisangel as a Better Player, Expresses Hope for Future MLB Rivalry

Ronald Acuña Jr. was one of those who most celebrated the change of his brother Luisangel to the New York Mets, where he is already considered the number 1 prospect. For the National League MVP favorite, his brother is much better than him, assuring that they have many things in common.

“Luisangel is very similar to me. Our games are very similar. I think the only difference is that he plays in the infield,” Acuña Jr. told the press this Saturday.

“If it were up to me, he would already be up here (in the MLB),” he added. “He’s already a better player than me. Some of the things he does at his age, I didn’t do when he had his,” he said.

Ronald and Luisangel are very close, so much so that they made a bet on who would steal the most bases in the 2023 season. So far the big league is winning 54-48.

“I hope he continues to work in the minor leagues and see him here sooner rather than later,” Acuña Jr. continued. “I think we’re going to have a great rivalry because our game is very similar. Watching him play is like watching myself play, to be honest”.

Acuña Jr. has a .336/.422/.575 offensive line with 29 doubles, 2 triples, 26 home runs and 54 steals this season. Luisangel, for his part, has averages of .302 / .366 / .429 with 36 extra-base hits, 52 RBIs and 48 stolen bases.
