Ricardo Ten touches the double in the Glasgow World Cup

The Spaniard hangs the silver en route after his gold against the clock

The Spanish cyclist Ricardo Ten hung the silver this Saturday in the road race of the World Championship in Glasgow (Scotland), a few thousandths from defending the title and from hanging his second gold this week after the time trial.

Spanish Paralympic cycling continues to add metals in this ‘Super World Cup’ that is putting all the disciplines in dispute. Ten was looking for the double but the Chinese Weilong Liang won in a long sprint after riding together for a good part of the race and Ten being the most active of the whole peloton. The German Michael Teuber was third, 2’54” behind the winner.

In C2, Luis Javier Arcega had a great race but could only be sixth, 1’09” behind the winner, the Frenchman Alexandre Leauté. In this same category, Maurice Eckhard finished in twelfth position. In C3, Eduardo Santas was tenth place 2’18” behind the world champion, the British Finlay Graham.

In C4, Damián Ramos was very close to getting another medal for the Spanish delegation, the Galician sprinting for the bronze medal against three other riders, to finish fifth. For his part, Julio Enrique Bermejo was eleventh.

Regarding the tandems, the national duos Sansó/Rus and Venge/Teruel achieved a ‘Top 10’, after entering the same group in ninth and tenth position respectively, seven minutes behind the winners, the Dutch Bangma/Bos.

This Sunday the competition with the Team Relay for the handbikes will say goodbye with Sergio Garrote (H2), Luis Miguel García-Marquina (H3) and Martín Berchesi (H4) as protagonists.
