RB Leipzig: Josko Gvardiol on the way to Manchester City – Sport

The record transfer from Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig to Champions League winners Manchester City is apparently perfect. The Saxons should receive around 90 million euros for the Croatian international. The transfer of the 21-year-old central defender should be announced in the coming days, reports the picture.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano writes that the medical check should take place on Friday. Gvardiol would thus be the most expensive defender in the world. He replaces Harry Maguire, who joined Manchester United from Leicester City in 2019 for €87m.

RB Leipzig lends André Silva

The Bundesliga club did not want to confirm this transfer on Wednesday, although Gvardiol was missing in the friendly squad in the afternoon. Instead, he announced that he is lending his striker André Silva. The 27-year-old will go to the Spanish first division club Real Sociedad San Sebastián for a year.

Silva came to Leipzig two years ago from league competitor Eintracht Frankfurt, his contract is valid until 2026. At RB he was not able to develop into the goalscorer he was before in Frankfurt, he rarely made long-term appearances and lost his place in of the Portuguese national team. Silva is currently suffering from a muscle injury, which made it difficult to sell.
