There were few or no surprises in the return matches of the penultimate preliminary round for the Champions League. PSV clearly won in Austria, Galatasaray had already done the hardest work last week and the stunt club from the Faroe Islands has dropped a European floor.

PSV – with Yorbe Vertessen and Johan Bakayoko in the starting line-up and Noa Lang on the bench – was briefly surprised by the home team, but before half-time Veerman formulated an appropriate answer with a placed shot and De Jong with a header.

Pepi recorded the final score from the spot in the final. Just like last year, PSV is now preparing for a final boxing match against Rangers. They beat Genk-killer Servette after a 1-1 in Switzerland.

Galatasaray did not get into trouble again tonight against the Slovenian champion Olimpija Ljubljana. The Turks had already won the first leg 0-3 and also won 1-0 at home. Dries Mertens was substituted at halftime.

In the fourth and final preliminary round, Mertens and his mates meet the Norwegian champion Molde.

The latter pierced the fairy tale of the Faroese champion Klaksvik 2-0 after extra time, erasing a 2-1 defeat from the first leg. A new chapter in the Europe or the Conference League awaits the stunt team.
