Preparing for the New easyCredit BBL Season: Lions to Play First Test Game Against Oldenburg

Our basketball lions have been preparing for the new easyCredit BBL season for a week and will be playing their first of a total of seven test games tomorrow, Saturday. This takes place away from the EWE Baskets Oldenburg and is not open to the public. In addition, both clubs have agreed not to publish any further statistics on the game apart from the result and, if applicable, their own top scorer.

As is known, the lions will not yet fully compete against the newly formed Oldenburg team in this first test. The “Czech Thunder” Martin Peterka will arrive in the Lion City on Friday evening after the premature elimination in the Olympic pre-qualification and will be used tomorrow as well as training player Markus Loncar. However, in addition to a guard who is still missing, Amar Sylla, Jilson Bango and Barra Njie, all three of whom are still in action with their respective national teams, are also absent. Accordingly, head coach Jesús Ramírez says with a view to the first test game: “The game is like another training session for us, but we will play 5:5 for the first time – and not against ourselves, but against Oldenburg. I’m not expecting anything out of the ordinary at this point. It’s all about reading things, improving and evolving.”
