Play Well First, Princess KW!

Jakarta

Putri Kusuma Wardani has had unsatisfactory results this season. Putri KW is only required to bring out her best in the world championship later.

The 2023 Badminton World Championships will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, August 21-27. Of the 15 athletes who participated, Putri KW and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung were only the two representatives in the women’s singles.

“Back to what I want, they can bring out their maximum abilities first, especially the KW daughters,” said the PBSI women’s singles coach, Indra Widjaja, to journalists, when met at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung.

Indra’s reasoning was motivated by the inconsistency of Putri KW. The 23-year-old badminton player has only penetrated the quarterfinals three times (Swiss Open, Orleans Masters and Taipei Open). While for the rest, Putri was knocked out in the first and second rounds in seven tournaments.

“As we all know and see, there is a problem with the confidence and mentality of competing with Putri KW. And this is what we are trying to improve in practice and discussions. It’s just that in the match the pressures that shouldn’t be expected can be removed,” said Indra.

“Because sometimes this child still brings him to the match, which ends up being a burden on himself. Every time a match goes down, everyone wants to win, but again the opponent also wants to win, so it’s called a match where there is a win-lose. But at least Our target is to put out your best game first, don’t be burdened with unnecessary non-technical things,” Indra continued.

“But again, this is a non-technical factor that they have to learn. It can’t be done at one time, because how do you feel, then the performance is different, this must be continuously improved,” he continued.

“For that, I say do your best in every round. That’s all (the target). Don’t be too ambitious to reach this round, this round. Go all-out one round after another. I think that’s more realistic,” Indra emphasize.
