Panamanian Judokas Prepare for Pan American Sports Games in Chile

Panamanian judo will be present at the Pan American Sports Games that will be held in Santiago de Chile from October 20 to November 5.

The athletes who won the quota to be in the sports fair (prelude to the Olympic Games) are Kristine Jiménez in the 57 kilograms, Lilian Cordones in the 52 kilograms and Bernabé Vergara in the 60 kilograms.

The Panamanian athletes were announced in the official list of the Pan American Judo Confederation for the competition of this sport in Santiago 2023.

Estela Riley, president of the Panamanian Judo Federation, highlighted the effort of the athletes, who added points in different competitions to earn their place through the ranking of this sport.

Riley reported that the three athletes have continued their preparation with a view to their participation in these regional games.

“Kristine Jiménez is preparing in Miami, where she lives, while Bernabé and Lilian are training in Panama,” Riley explained.

However, the Panamanian judo leader announced that the plan is for the three athletes to finish their preparation in a camp abroad prior to the regional games.

With the classification of the three judokas, the Panamanian delegation for Santiago 2023 increased to 63 athletes.

It should be noted that the Pan American Sports Games will award the largest number of places in history for the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024.
