Önder Seden, the former head coach of the A National Men’s Basketball Team, passed away.

In the statement made by the Turkish Basketball Federation, “We have learned with deep sadness the news of the death of Önder Seden, the former head coach of the National Men’s Basketball Team and Honorary President of the Turkish Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD). and our condolences to our basketball community.” it was said.

Önder Seden, who started his basketball career in Ankara’s Mülkiye team, later played for Galatasaray, Vefa, Şişli and Modaspor teams. While playing in Galatasaray, Seden started coaching the youth team and continued in Modaspor, Istanbul PTT and Fenerbahçe.

Önder Seden, who was brought to the youth national team coaching in 1970, has served at all levels of the national team over the years. After being second in the Balkan Youth Championship in 1971, Seden won the European championship in 1977 for the Stars National Team, which he coached with Atakan Karakaplan.

In 1981, Seden was appointed as the coach of the National Men’s Basketball Team, together with Atakan Karakaplan. During this period, the national team, which passed the Challenge tour in Istanbul, participated in the European Championship after six years.
