New Rimini Gears Up for Promotion Playoffs with Reinforced Lineup

The preparation of New Rimini starts again on Thursday (17 August) in view of the promotion playoffs of the Serie B championship. After the mid-August break, the team led by Gilberto Zucconi will also have two friendly matches, both with the Falcons Torre Pedrera, on Wednesday 23 and Saturday 26 at the municipal stadium. The first two games of the playoffs, against the Lancers of Lastra a Signa, are scheduled from Saturday 2 September: game 1 at 14.00 and game 2 on Sunday at 10.00.

Then, on the following weekend, the confrontation will move to Rimini, where the decisive matches will be played to win promotion to Serie A: game 3 on Saturday 9 September at 14.00, possible game 4 at 19.00, possible game 5 on Sunday 10 September at 15.00. The goal is to win three games. In the second and possibly fourth and fifth games, the pitcher may also be a non-Italian player with EU citizenship.

Sandy Patrone will be reinforcing the launch mound of the Rimini players, starting from the first weekend. The 40-year-old of Dominican origins and with an EU passport, a former Rimini Baseball player with whom he won a Scudetto in 2006, has accepted the call from the Rimini club and will join Daniel Muzzarelli in the match reserved for pitchers without Italian citizenship.

The reinforcement was also necessary in the light of the absences that New Rimini will have right on the mound: Francesco Ridolfi, starting match 1 during the regular season and Tommaso Montanari, winger and also useful relief, are in fact both engaged abroad for study reasons.
