NBA Player Terrence Williams Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Health Insurance Fraud Scheme

The former basketball player NBA, Terrence Williamswas sentenced Thursday to ten years in prison for organizing a fraud scheme to the detriment of the League’s health insurance, the New York court announced.

Williams, who played for the New Jersey Nets and the 36-year-old Houston Rockets pleaded guilty in August 2022.

“Williams not only enriched himself through fraud and deception, but also stole other people’s identities and threatened a witness in order to carry out his criminal activities,” the prosecutor stated. Damian Williams it’s a statement.

Terrence Williams was one of 18 former basketball players accused of participating in this scam that cost him at least 5 million dollars to insurance between 2017 y 2021.

The courts accused him, among other things, of making false statements to receive medical and dental treatment that was never carried out.

Among the defendants are Glen Davis and Tony Allen, cNBA champions with Boston in 2008, former Lakers player Shannon Brown and former los Clippers Darius Miles.
