Nathan Rourke to Sign with Jacksonville Jaguars Practice Squad, Bailey Zappe Joins New England Patriots Practice Squad

Nathan Rourke was not claimed by a roster after being waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday and will sign a deal with the Jaguars practice squad, according to Farhan Lalji of TSN.

The quarterback from Victoria, BC had some impressive moments for the Jaguars in preseason games. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 348 passing yards, as well as one touchdown and no interceptions in three games. He didn’t get the reserve quarterback job, however, as Jacksonville turned to veteran CJ Beathard.

According to NFL Network, no quarterbacks were claimed from waivers Wednesday.

Rourke signed a three-year contract with the Jaguars after completing the 2022 season with the BC Lions in the CFL.

He is a product of Ohio University and was selected in the second round of the 2020 draft by the Lions.

Zap stays with the Pats

Quarterback Bailey Zappe has signed a contract with the New England Patriots practice squad, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Zappe would have been in demand after going on waivers. Seven teams had shown interest in the 24-year-old quarterback.

The 2022 fourth-round pick decided to return to the Pats, where he posted a two-game winning record.
