Mireia Lapuerta Wins Gold at Zagreb Grand Prix in -48 kg Category

Mireia Lapuerta hangs the gold medal at the Zagreb Grand Prix. She did it after beating Milica Nikolic, from Serbia, in the final of the -48 kg category. The judoka representing the Valencian Judo Federation was proclaimed champion on the Croatian tatami, beating the Serbian Andrea Stojadinov in the semifinals and Abiba Abuzhakynova, from Kazakhstan.

Previously, in the preliminary rounds, she beat the Brazilian Natasha Ferreira and the French Marine Gilly. Mireia Lapuerta, in this way, hangs the first gold of the season that adds to the two bronze medals harvested in the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv and Paris, at the beginning of the year, and the bronze obtained in the Grand Prix Portugal.

For her part, Laura Martínez achieved third place in the same category as Lapuerta. She managed to access the semifinals but the judoka did not win against Milica Nikolic. However, she did achieve it against Kazakh Abiba Abuzhakynova, thus hanging the bronze medal. In the men’s draw, in the -66 kilos category, the Spanish David García Torné did not achieve bronze after losing to Nurillaev in the semifinals and Tilotov in the fight for third place.
