The Spaniard Mikel Landa will have to guide Remco Evenepoel through the mountain ranges in the Grand Tours next season at Soudal – Quick Step.
During the Tour there were already rumors about a possible switch. And Landa herself made it clear that she was not reluctant to the transfer.
A few months later, the deal between Lefevere and Landa is complete. He comes over from Bahrain-Victorious and signs a contract for 2 years.
Mikel Landa is 33 years old and is known as a real climbing goat. He blossomed with the former Team Sky, where he helped Chris Froome twice to the overall victory in the Tour de France.
He himself finished 4th in the 2017 Tour, that year he also won the mountain jersey in the Giro. In total he won 3 stages in the Tour of Italy, good for third place in the general classification of 2015, then with Astana.
As leader he was brought from Sky to Bahrain, but Landa never succeeded in winning. A few stage wins and a repeat of his best performances with Sky and Astana was the maximum.
And so the Spaniard resigns himself to a servant role again. After Froome, will he also help Evenepoel to successes in the Tour de France?
