The judokas Jael López and Roberto Domínguez, shone with their own light by winning silver and bronze medals, respectively, within their participation with the Mexican team in the 2023 Pan American Judo Cup, held from August 17 to 20 in the city of Santo Domingo Dominican Republic.

In total, it was a team of four Judo athletes from González de Parral who were in the fair, thanks to being among the first places in the national ranking, in each of their respective categories and divisions, after their participation in national events. federation.

The international tournament was staged at the facilities of the Santo Domingo Pavilion, which was a live witness of the outstanding performance of the people from Parral by their strategist, who served as national coach, Gabriel González, where athletes from the countries following: Colombia, Panama, Guatemala, Haiti, Puerto Rico and the host, the Dominican Republic, among others.

The results of those from the capital of the world were: firstly, Jael López, in the women’s under 18 category, in the 63-kilogram division, a competitor who already represented Mexico in the children’s Pan American tournament in Panama in 2021, where she achieved the fifth Instead, on this occasion, the silver was hung after beating the host representative of the Dominican Republic and in the final, in very even fights, they lost to the representative of Puerto Rico.

For his part, Roberto Domínguez, in the under 21 category, in the 81 kilos division, national champion athlete, conade medalist and scholarship recipient from Texas A&M University, won the bronze medal, his first engagement won bay, in the second duel he beat a competitor from Haiti, in the semifinal he lost to a Dominican athlete and beat others from the country of Haiti for bronze.

In addition, Sebastián González, in the under 18 category, in the 55-kilogram division, an athlete who was already called up to the national team in 2021, stayed in seventh place, after losing two close battles, against judokas from the Dominican Republic.

For his part, Enrique Candía, in the under 18 category, in the 60-kilo division, a judoka who had already worn the national colors, in the 2019 Pan-American Children’s Championship in Guadalajara, also ranked seventh in the fair, after losing to two host judokas.

It should be noted that these Judo González athletes are worthy representatives of the Azteca team, which are in charge of the coaches from Parral, sensei, Nidia Cordero and sensei, Gabriel González.
