Ajax no longer needs Jorge Sánchez (for now). The record champion rents the Mexican right back to FC Porto for one season. He may not return to Amsterdam after that.
Sánchez wears the shirt of FC Porto for at least a year. The Portuguese club has also negotiated an option to buy and can reportedly take him over next summer for around 4 million euros. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, that takeover becomes an obligation if the right back has acted at least twenty times.
With the rental deal, the failed collaboration between 25-year-old Sánchez and Ajax will come to an end for the time being. The Mexican international was rarely able to convince in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Still, he came to 26 games.
Last summer, Sánchez showed his qualities at the Gold Cup. He was a basic player for Mexico, which won the tournament for the ninth time. In addition, he received an honorable place in the best team of the Gold Cup.

Ajax already has a replacement for Sánchez
The transfer from Sánchez to FC Porto has been in the air for a long time. Ajax has already recruited a replacement for Sánchez with Anton Gaaei. The Dane will compete with Devyne Rensch, who was the right back for the first games of the season.
