Mercato: OM-Lazio agreement for the transfer of Mattéo Guendouzi

Mattéo Guendouzi probably played the last minutes of his Olympian adventure this Saturday evening, at the Stade Vélodrome against Brest (2-0 victory). An anecdotal appearance, of about ten minutes in a match already folded in favor of the Marseillais, who will therefore have the value of farewell, a little more than two years after his arrival on the Canebière.

According to our information, which confirms that of Foot Market, an agreement has been reached in recent hours between the leaders of Olympique de Marseille and their Roman counterparts from SS Lazio for the transfer of the French international (7 caps). A movement anticipated for several days and which will still bring a small ticket to OM. A year after buying him definitively for 11 million euros from Arsenal, Marseille will sell Guendouzi for 13 million euros and 5 bonuses, we are told by a source close to the negotiations.

Loaned during the 2021-22 season then transferred in the summer of 2022, Mattéo Guendouzi will therefore have spent a total of two seasons at OM for a total of 103 games played (10 goals, 19 assists). The midfielder, who performed enthusiastically on his debut in Marseille, gradually lost his luster, until a final episode which seemed to mark a break with the Marseille public: this 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League against Panathinaikos, where he makes a disappointing entry and misses his shot on goal. More indisputable holder, he was even the fourth player in the midfield hierarchy behind rookie Geoffrey Kondogbia (30 years old), Valentin Rongier (28 years old) and Jordan Veretout (30 years old),
