The highest ranking judoka in Senegal, 8th dan black belt in Judo, Master Seydou Nourou Toure is one of the rare examples of citizens that each country would like to have. Sensei Touré is first and foremost an “omnisport” sportsman. Indeed, he practiced several sports including boxing, handball, basketball, swimming, but fell madly in love with Judo in 1959.
Master Touré started Judo at the age of 26 and he practices this sport until now. Champion of Senegal on several occasions, African individual and team champion, Maitre Touré has also participated in several tournaments and competitions at the world level (Participation in the Olympic Games in 1964 among others). He participated in several training courses in Japan several times in the 60s and until the 80s. He also trained many champions and fighters who became black belts.
As a world and Olympic referee, he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Sydney and the Olympic Games held in Greece in Athens. For many young people Master Touré was known primarily as the Director of African Refereeing, a position he held from 1989 to 2004. In this position, he raised the level of refereeing to a level never before achieved. . Maitre Touré has led several courses as a World Referee and consultant in America, Japan, Europe and Africa.
