Mathias Lessort back with the French team for the Basketball World Cup

Mathias Lessort, received the medical green light to join the Blues and compete in the World Cup (August 25-September 10). The Panathinaikos player had missed the preparation for the World Cup, hit in an ankle. He followed a treatment protocol coordinated between the medical staff of the France team and that of his club, who considered him fit to participate in the competition.

The interior will join the France group directly in Jakarta (Indonesia) on Tuesday. Coming to lend a hand to the national team during the last two preparation matches in Japan, Vincent Poirier and Yoan Makoundou will leave the group on Monday. The Blues’ first match at the World Cup will be played in Jakarta against Canada on Friday at 8:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. French time).

“Mathias joins us in Jakarta on Tuesday. He leaves France tomorrow, confided Vincent Collet after the meeting. We got the green light from his club, which was rejected several times. He trained all week with my former club (Boulogne-Levallois), and therefore with Laurent Foirest (the new team coach, Collet’s assistant with the Blues). This is a great satisfaction, an additional asset for us. »
