The duel against Argentinos Juniors in Buenos Aires last Tuesday (01/08), valid for the Round of 16 of the Conmebol Libertadores, had a special flavor for Martinelli. Upon entering the field, the defensive midfielder completed 150 matches for Fluminense. The player expressed the feeling of gratitude and his happiness for being one of the Moleques de Xerém who most wore the tricolor shirt as a professional.
“It is a source of great pride and gratitude to the club. We know that it is not easy to reach this mark, few athletes can do it. I was watching something that appeared on Instagram, that André and I entered the top 10 of Xerém athletes who most played for the club. This is a reason for us to be very proud to represent this shirt. Whenever we enter the field we do our best. So I am very happy to reach this mark and that there are many more games to come for Fluminense”, declared the number 8, in an interview that will air in its entirety on FluTV shortly.
Since rising to the professionals in 2020, Martinelli has been collecting achievements and unforgettable moments. When trying to list some of them, the player recalled assisting Fred’s last goal, against Corinthians in last year’s Brasileirão.
“There are many games that come to mind, good games. Sometimes we score a goal, give an assist… But a game that I have good memories is the game against Corinthians, where I gave the pass to Fred, his last goal. It’s a game that, sometimes I’m traveling, I go there and watch the video. Because it’s a video that after he scores the goal, there’s a celebration that is a mixture of feelings. So it is a game that I have kept for myself as the most special one here”, he stated.
In his 150 games, Martinelli scored four goals and was an important player in Carioca’s second championship, in 2022 and 2023.
