Marítimo da Madeira Futebol SAD Loses Precautionary Measures in TAD Ruling on Licensing

Marítimo da Madeira Futebol SAD issued a statement, on its official website, regarding the TAD orders on the Precautionary Measures that the Maritimist SAD placed on that Arbitration Court. Says Marítimo that “on the 30th of June, Liga Portugal officially communicated which sports companies were licensed to participate in professional competitions organized by it, namely Liga Portugal BETCLIC and Liga Portugal 2 SABSEG”.

In this context, the statement reads that “by understanding that Boavista FC-Futebol, SAD and Clube Football Estrela, SAD, do not meet the necessary conditions to participate in the competition for which they were licensed, Marítimo da Madeira – Futebol, SAD, filed precautionary measures against their licensing decisions, by Liga Portugal, with the competent body, the Court of Arbitration for Sport”, and “was notified yesterday of the rejection of both precautionary measures taken”.

Marítimo lost the two precautionary measures placed in the TAD, with the court ruling again in favor of Liga Portugal in the process regarding the licensing of Estrela da Amadora

SAD do Marítimo considers that, “according to the analysis carried out, both precautionary measures were rejected based on formal assumptions”, since “TAD considered the precautionary measure filed against the licensing of BOAVISTA FC – FUTEBOL, SAD to be untimely and illegitimate the precautionary measure filed against the licensing of CFEA – CLUB FOOTBALL ESTRELA, SAD”, considering that .”the decisions handed down by the TAD are received by the MMFSAD as part of a global process of defense of its interests. These are decisions handed down in the 1st instance, whose content and legal framework will be dissected with the necessary rigor, together with its lawyers”.

Marítimo da Madeira Futebol SAD also adds, in the statement, that “at the conclusion of this analysis, it will take the decisions that best defend its interests, namely the firm conviction that, unlike other sports companies, MMFSAD should have been licensed to participate in Liga Portugal BETCLIC”.

Finally, Marítimo assures that “never, at any time, has he sought, seeks or will seek out of the field what we could not get on it. At the same time, the MMFSAD will never, at any time, give up fighting for the rule of law, on and off the field. In a rule of law, supervision is a right and a duty. Flag illegalities, or suspected illegalities, as well. Justice is only blind as a metaphor.”
