“Change of plan” at FC Bayern – New details about Neuer’s injury

Manuel Neuer has not played a game since December. The goalkeeper’s comeback has been delayed, with one facet of his game in particular causing problems. Now FC Bayern is looking for alternatives. Other names are under discussion.
The pressure is obviously great. After Manuel Neuer’s postponed comeback plans and the departure of Yann Sommer, who moved to Inter Milan, and Alexander Nübel, who was loaned to VfB Stuttgart for a year, FC Bayern has a need for the goalkeeper position. In Sven Ulreich there is currently only one experienced keeper available.
“Sport Bild” reports that the current condition of the goalkeeper is a major topic of discussion on Säbener Straße. Internally, there is now talk of a “change of plan” in relation to Neuer. Even in the best case, one is currently assuming another eight to ten weeks, which Neuer is missing. Reports that it could take until 2024 are also making the rounds.
Apparently, as “Sport 1” writes, the people of Munich should be looking for a new goalkeeper with Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The first talks, it is said, have already taken place with the Spanish national goalkeeper. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel knows the 28-year-old from his time at Chelsea and is said to have recommended him.

The longtime number one is currently working on a comeback in the Bayern and DFB goal. Most recently, Neuer had to undergo another operation on his right fibula. It is still unclear when he will return.

A few weeks ago, Neuer did some goalkeeper training on the pitch. It was noticed that he was said to have had trouble with shots with his left foot – when the right, injured leg became the supporting leg. Even with certain jumps he is said to have acted cautiously and hesitantly.
In addition to his reflexes, Neuer’s great strength is playing on the ball, which sets him apart from most other top goalkeepers. If he has pain or limitations here, this should have a significant impact on his game.
