Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Deliberately Running into Pedestrians in Namur

The man born in 1983 who deliberately ran into pedestrians with his vehicle on Wednesday near Square Léopold, in Namur, was placed under an arrest warrant on Friday for attempted murder, indicates the Namur prosecution.

The facts occurred in the early evening, shortly before 8:00 p.m. The accused, accompanied by two women, had an altercation with two groups of people present on the spot. He then went to his vehicle, parked nearby. At that moment, two men kicked his car, including with a baseball bat and iron bars.

After fleeing in his vehicle, the accused returned to Square Léopold and drove into his two opponents, injuring them in the legs. He then fled in his car, before being arrested by the police.

All those involved were deprived of their liberty, but only the driver was finally brought before an investigating judge, who therefore placed him on Friday under an arrest warrant for the count of attempted murder.
