Maike Hausberger Secures Bronze Medal in C2 Time Trial at Para Track Cycling World Championships

German medal in the time trial

Maike Hausberger won the second German medal at the Para Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. The 28-year-old from Trier took bronze in the C2 time trial over 500 m in 42.804 seconds on Sunday.

The road world champion was only beaten by Paralympics winner Amanda Reid (38.378 seconds) from Australia and Chinese Song Zhenling (42.318).

Hausberger’s strengths are on the road anyway. There, the former para-athlete won the last two world titles as before in 2019, and she also triumphed in the individual time trial last year. The road competitions in Scotland are scheduled for next Wednesday (individual time trial) and Saturday (road race).

Robert Förstemann won the first German medal with his visually impaired tandem partner Thomas Ulbricht. The duo drove to the bronze medal on Friday in starting class B in the time trial over the Paralympic 1000 m. On Monday, Förstemann and Ulbricht are also aiming for a medal in the sprint.
