Lille, crushed in Lorient (4-1), Rennes, held in check at home by the promoted Le Havre (2-2) and Montpellier, corrected by Reims at La Mosson (3-1), missed a great opportunity to pick up in Monaco and OM at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, Sunday August 27 during the 3rd day. Lyon drew in Nice (0-0) and ended their losing streak, without reassuring them.

Presented as serious candidates for the podium, the Rennais have a little difficulty in being worthy of this label. Opposed to an opponent supposed to be within their reach, they left Roahzon Park with a pitiful draw, after having led 2-0. Unable to save this favorable result, they were victims of the formidable efficiency of Nabil Alioui, author of a double.

Rennes coach Bruno Genesio had reason to be furious after a match that his troops nevertheless finished with a numerical superiority after the exclusion of Le Havre Samuel Grandsir in the second half (62nd). A performance that is messy for a team supposed to play the leading roles in the league. “It is not acceptable not to make a difference, to be lifted up in such a way. We fell asleep a little bit, we got into a sterile game. Football does not forgive if you do not put commitment, aggressiveness. We got drunk, and we were punished”cursed the technician.

Lyon does not take off

Like Rennes (6th), Lille (10th) displayed its current shortcomings in Lorient. Three days after suffering in the first leg of the Europa Conference League against the Croats of Rijeka (2-1), the Mastiffs did not exist at Moustoir (4-1) and lined up a second meeting in a row without success in L1 .

Montpellier (9th) also missed the mark and the possibility of finding themselves tied with Monaco and Marseille by losing heavily at La Mosson against Reims (3-1). The Héraultais, who remained on a demonstration in Lyon (4-1), undoubtedly succumbed to the pressure and completely sank against the Rémois, carried by the two goals of Teddy Teuma and now in 3rd position. Strasbourg, victorious from Toulouse at La Meinau (2-0), is not far away (5th).

At the bottom of the table, Lyon, defeated twice in the first two days, snatched their first point of the season after the draw from Nice (0-0). However, the team occupies a worrying 17th and penultimate place. A week before the reception of PSG, this result is hardly reassuring for a club in crisis, recruiting under the supervision of the DNCG, the financial policeman of French football, and handicapped by the injuries and the suspension of its number one striker. Alexandre Lacazette.

Clermont, for its part, suffered its third defeat in as many outings against Metz (1-0) and remains dead last. Tracked by Ajax Amsterdam, the Georgian striker from Metz George Mikautadze nicely cared for what was perhaps his last appearance on the lawns of the championship.
