Alonso now gets the desired winger with Nathan Tella (24).
The Englishman comes from FC Southampton, signed until 2028. According to BILD information, it costs just under 20 million euros and is Leverkusen’s most expensive purchase this year.
A goal in the training kick against Aachen
Shortly after the transfer announcement, Tella was on the field on Sunday and scored 4-0 in a training kick against the reserve team from regional league team Aachen.
Tella says of his move from England’s second division: “Many younger players from the Premier League were given a chance in the Bundesliga and were able to improve significantly here. I also find the stadiums and the whole fan culture exciting. Above all, however, the Leverkusen team is of course the reason for my decision. It’s an impressive team.” He’s right.
“I’ve always watched the Bundesliga, it’s a top league with a lot of talented players. I’m full of anticipation to be able to play in the Bundesliga and in front of our fans – and then to fully realize that I’m here. That will be something special,” explains the new Alonso star.
