Lescotte comes with a brilliant anecdote about the trainer Kompany

Vincent Kompany is in his fourth season as head coach. The player-trainer experiment was not a success at RSC Anderlecht, but afterwards he did very well as head coach for two seasons. Last year was a wonderful year at Burnley. Can Kompany also impress in the Premier League in barely his fourth season as a trainer?

Joleon Lescott gets on well with Kompany and the former defender spoke about the coach Kompany via Manchester City club channels. He came up with a striking anecdote about the talented Belgian manager. “He is so determined. I went to visit him at Anderlecht when he was a trainer there for one or two months. Vinnie then convincingly told me that he was going to be a better manager than he ever was as a player. He believes that. I said then: ‘Vinnie, you’ve only just started as a coach’. And then as a player-trainer. He’s so determined to get good,” Lescott said.

Burnley hard to fight

He made an impression in Anderlecht. In his first year as head coach, he parked Anderlecht in fourth place with a mediocre core. The following season, after the necessary good transfers, Anderlecht finished third and reached the cup final. Both parties parted ways because of a different vision and Burnley brought him in. They dominated the Championship with some eye-catching football and after one year they returned to the Premier League. “You associated Burnley with Sean Dyche, but he changed that completely. The teams in the Premier League will have a lot of trouble with them.”
