Latvian Motocross Pilot Pauls Jonass Makes Successful Return to Competition Circuit

Last weekend, after winning 2nd place in the “ADAC Masters” championship stage in Germany, Latvia’s leading motocross pilot Pauls Jonass, who had not participated in the competition since May due to a hand injury, returned to the competition circuit.

Athletes encountered a change in the weather on the Gaildorf track – if the track was drivable in the qualification and the first race, then it was thoroughly wet and muddy in the second, but the third race was canceled due to severe weather.

Starting in the first group, the Standing Construct Honda rider won the qualifying race and earned a good place at the starting barrier in the main races.

Pauls finished in the TOP5 fastest drivers in the first race, winning 4th place. The winner was Dutchman Geoffrey Herlings, second was Henry Jacobi from Germany, and the third best result was another German, Tom Koch. Herlings took the victory in the second race as well, but this time Jonas was second. The third place in the race was won by Max Nagl from Germany.

Thus, Geoffrey Herlings became the winner of the “ADAC Masters” Gaildorf stage in the sum of two races, Paul Jonas climbed to the second step of the podium, and Tom Koch ended the day in third place.

Jonas will return to the World Championship circuit already this week with the Swedish MXGP stage, which will be combined with the European Championship races in the EMX125 and EMX250 classes.

Other Latvian motorcyclists also competed in the Gaildorf stage of “ADAC Masters” in Germany. “ADAC MX Junior Cup 125″ in the category Markus Ozoliņš (MX Module), Markus Kokin (MX Module), Raivo Laicāns (AMK Bieriņi) and Ralfs Spila (Rodeo MX) started. The best from this list of riders was Ozoliņš, who won 5th place in the sum of two races, Kokin – 7th place, Laicāns – 16th place, while Spila finished the competition in 16th position

“ADAC MX Youngster Cup” in the class, Edvards Bidzāns (Rodeo MX) showed the highest result from Latvians, winning 17th place overall, Robert Lusis (Motokurzeme) 26th place, and Mairis Pumpurs (MX Moduls) took 39th position at the end of the day.
