Julio Pablo Martínez Promoted to Texas Rangers Senior Team in MLB

Cuban baseball player Julio Pablo Martínez, 27, has been officially promoted to the senior team of the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball (MLB). This exciting news was confirmed by sports reporter Francys Romero in his latest newsletter. Don’t miss following his journey in the MLB!

According to this information, the Guantanamo outfielder was awarded a call-up to the Major Leagues after five years of good performance in the Minors with the Texas franchise. Martínez joined the team on Wednesday night and would be activated on August 11, at the start of the Rangers’ sub-series against San Francisco.

But what are Martinez’s best tools and weapons to stay in MLB? According to Romero, “Julio can play in any of the three outfields. His speed is still another advantage of his game. In five Minor League seasons he has stolen 140 bases with only 35 sacks.”

This year, the Guantanamo outfielder reached the Triple-A level and established himself there with a .312/.427/.561 offensive line. Additionally, he produced 36 extra-base hits (20 doubles, four triples and 12 homers).

In August 2017, Martínez abandoned a contract with the Aigles de Trois Rivieres of the Can-Am League, which he had signed through the regime’s Baseball Federation, in search of a signing with an MLB organization.

Almost a year later, in April 2018, the Cuban baseball player signed a minor league agreement with the Texas Rangers, which included a $2.8 million dollar bonus.

Martínez made his debut in the island’s National Baseball Series at age 16 and hit a .293 average in five seasons. What do you expect from Martínez in the Major Leagues?
