Julia Grabher is aiming for her first title of the season in the Gran Canaria final.

Julia Grabher met Tamara Zidansek for the fourth time. After the Vorarlberg native had to give up the first game against the Slovenian, she was able to win the last two matches.

Comeback qualities were already in demand for Grabher, seeded No. 2, in the first round. After being 1:4 behind, the 27-year-old was able to equalize, but had to accept the loss of the set after losing two games in a row.

After both players managed to get through their first two service games in act two, Grabher took complete control of the match and didn’t give up a game until the end of the match. After 1:35 hours of play, No. 63 in the world triumphed 4:6, 6:2, 6:0.

In the final, the Austrian No. 1 meets Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. The Spaniard, listed in 8th position, prevailed 7: 6 (7), 6: 2 against the top favorite Aranxta Rus from the Netherlands, who recently secured the WTA title at Hamburg’s Rothenbaum. For Grabher, winning the title in Maspalomas would be the second biggest success of her career after winning the WTA 125 tournament in Bari last year.
