Judo from Salta continues to generate good results in national competitions. Weeks ago, the representatives of the Salteña Federation competed in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán, achieving several first places and other positions on the podiums. This time the successes were repeated, but in the Centro República Tournament, one of the largest tournaments on the Argentine calendar.
It is a scoring tournament for the Argentine Judo Confederation and that was held until yesterday in Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba. Representatives from all over the national territory met and among them there were eight who competed under the Salta flag.
Máximo Mena was the competitor from our province who achieved the best result by being crowned Argentine champion in the cadet category up to 90 kilos. It is the second title that he obtains in the span of a month, since on July 15 he was champion in the Alvear Cup, in Tucumán, in the same category.
Juan Zanon, Augusto Palavecino, Jonás Alul and Maximiliano Farfán also stood out on the tatatami. Zanon took second place in up to 44 kilos for children, while Palavecino was third in less than 58 kilos. Alul achieved the same position in children B up to 48 kilos and Farfán was also third, but in cadets -73 kilos.
The representation from Salta was completed with the good performance of Ramiro Alul, fifth in cadets -60 kilos, and Valentino Rivero, fifth in graduated kyu -60 kilos. The group had the support of Professor Mara Narancic and other trainers.
The experience that the Salteños lived in the tournament strengthens their training in a discipline that requires sacrifices of all kinds: physical, time and even financial to be able to travel. The results continue to be favorable to them and show that even when resources are limited they are up to the great national challenges.
