Joseph Oosting has had a great start as a trainer of FC Twente. With the new trainer, the Tukkers are on track for the final preliminary round of the Conference League and also won their first league match. Oosting had expected that too.

“Well, I’m not surprised we got off to a good start,” he says Football International. “I made a careful analysis of FC Twente before I started here. What are the strengths, where are the negatives, where can we still make some profit? And then you come to the conclusion that the road that this club was started, in the way of playing football, is close to what we as staff have in mind.”

“Something will change here and there, but in principle it was not all that complicated,” continues the coach. “It’s going well so far. We would like to take some more steps in the long term, so we have to ensure that we continue this line.”

Oosting was also satisfied with the game against Almere City FC (1-4). “We were the parent party throughout the game. We played dominant football, played many opportunities together. Six before the break alone, I think. As a former professional, I know that not every chance is automatically a goal, but I do think “We should have scored then. Then you give yourself some air and your way of playing football will also be rewarded. But after the break we continued in the same way and we scored at the right moments, good goals too,” said Oosting.
