El quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo made his official debut with the Las Vegas Raiders Saturday at the game week 2 preseason against Los Angeles Rams.
Despite the 31-year-old only appearing for 5 minutes in the team’s opening series, he left fans and critics alike praising his performance.
Los Raiders they ended up winning the game by a score of 34-17.
Garoppolo’s numbers
The last time the NFL saw Garoppolo play was in the Week 13 of last seasonwhen the quarterback suffered a season-ending foot injury that led to the player leaving san francisco 49ers and landing with the Raiders a few months later.
Fast forward to Saturday when the quarterback finally took the field to Las Vegas.
Garoppolowho has been in the news due to some disappointing outings during training camp, looked good under management and led the Raiders to a touchdown in the opening series that would become the only points scored in the first quarter by both teams.
Total, Jimmy G complete four-for-four 4 for 39 passing yardswhich gave the pin a QB rating of 107.3 in his 5 minutes on the field.
Garoppolo’s longest completion was an 18-yard pass to wide receiver Jacob Meyerswhich put Las Vegas in the red zone.
The Raiders’ entire drive was 68 yards and ended with a 7-yard touchdown run by Brandon Bolden.
Even though Garoppolo managed to complete all of his passes, his ball placement on the left still needs to improve to give his receivers the best chance of success against their opponents in the extremely competitive AFC Western Conference.
What’s next for Jimmy G?
Garoppolo’s debut was short-lived, but what he lacked in minutes he made up for in the satisfaction of seeing the veteran on the field looking healthy and balanced leading the offense. Black and Silver.
While there are issues to work out, with his debut the team can focus on fine-tuning before the regular season.
Garoppolo will enter his 10th NFL season with a foot surgically repaired, but has the confidence of the Raiders to be the quarterback capable of leading the team to the playoffs for the third time in the last 20 years (2016, 2021).
