Jean-Michel Aulas Threatens Defamation Lawsuit Against John Textor After Remarks on Their Estrangement

Jean-Michel Aulas, former president of OL, brandishes the threat of a defamation lawsuit against John Textor, owner of OL, after the American’s remarks on the reasons for their estrangement.

This time, he didn’t delete his post, or shout hacking. Jean-Michel Aulas published a tweet on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in which he threatened John Textor, the new owner of a defamation lawsuit. The former president of Lyon reacted to the speech of the American businessman, Tuesday evening in front of some media including RMC Sport during which he detailed the reasons for the quarrel between the two men.

“He would risk catastrophic sanctions for OL from the DNCG and the LFP!”

“I imagine that these remarks are not from John Textor because by making them he would expose himself to a defamation lawsuit and moreover would risk catastrophic sanctions for OL from the DNCG and the LFP!”, Proclaimed Aulas on Twitter .

The former Lyon manager, named honorary president and still a minority shareholder of the club (via his company Holnest), was ousted from office on May 5 when he was originally supposed to stay in place for another three years. His departure was finally recorded less than six months after Textor took power, scalded by what he considers to be a little trickery by his predecessor just before the sale.

Facing the media on Tuesday, he revealed that cracks had appeared from the start of the sales process, citing an email as the source of the conflict between the two men. He thus criticizes Aulas for not having informed him of the concerns of the DNCG after having received an email in which they were drowned in an abundance of information.

“Burying very bad news in the attachment of a ‘positive’ email, in a paragraph, the day before the end of the transaction, he laments. We must send this to all the actors in the file. And not only to me. Because it can impact the business. If my teams had learned of this restriction as early as this email in December, I would have asked to restructure the sale rather than take half a billion dollars in cash to give to the sellers “I would have taken more money to invest it, to put it on the balance sheet and the health of the club. I would not only have injected 86 million for the balance sheet and 50 million for the debts. When we brought so many money, it’s unthinkable to have these kinds of restrictions. I’m not happy with this email which concealed a warning. If I had known that, I can promise you that I would not have brought this half -billion to sellers. I would have asked to rework the transaction. This is one of the difficulties of our relationship with Jean-Michel.”
