Jannik Sinner Emerges as Top Favorite at US Open 2023, Says Coach Ivan Ljubicic

Who are the favorites at the US Open? A week before the start, fans and experts are hardly concerned with any other topic. If Jannik Sinner has been considered a secret favorite for every big one he has competed in, he was able to step out of this role. Nothing is “secret” for him this year. Ivan Ljubicic sees it that way too…

In Cincinnati, Jannilk Sinner had to give up in the round of 16, but this defeat against Dusan Lajovic does not change the fact that many experts are sure that the young Italian is now ready for more great deeds – and of course at the US Open in New York.

Ivan Ljubicic, former top 10 player and longtime coach of Roger Federer, revealed in an interview that he considers Sinner one of the top favorites to win the US Open 2023: “Jannik Sinner has the mentality of a champion, this win is important and feels like a release for him.”

Jannik was in his third ATP Masters 1000 tournament final in Toronto and was able to triumph in a tournament of this category for the first time. Ljubicic still has this victory in the final against the Australian Alex de Minaur in mind – and it is proof for him that the South Tyrolean has developed decisively: “It wasn’t easy against De Minaur, he is a difficult tennis player and we’ll talk here from someone who lets you play badly.”
