Italy, with Gabriele Procida on the field from Como and Carlo Recalcati on the bench as senior assistant, continues preparation for the World Cup in Manila (Philippines) by winning the Trentino Basket Cup, which was held in Trento at the end of the Folgaria meeting.
Coach Gianmarco Pozzecco’s team first beat Turkey after extra time (90-89, Procida 3) and then China in the final (79-61, Procida 5).

The Azzurri are now moving to Athens for the prestigious Acropolis Tournament, where they will face Serbia on Wednesday and hosts Greece on Thursday, two of the strongest teams in Europe and in the world.
On Sunday 13th Ravenna will host “DatHome Day”, the last match in Italy of captain Gigi Datome’s career, with a friendly match against Puerto Rico.
On August 17th then the departure for Asia, with a stop in China in Shenzhen for the last two tests in front of Brazil and New Zealand. Then on 25 August the awaited debut in the world championship against Angola. In these very hours, the coach will make the definite choice of the twelve to take to the World Cup.
