Renovation of the ski jump in Wisła for tens of millions of zlotys

We started operations on Monday. The contractor is checked. He has participated in similar, serious investments. There are enough people to work. This is following the schedule – said Tomasz Laszczak, director of COS OPO in Szczyrk, in an interview with TVP Sport.

Renovation works on the ski jumping hill in Wisła were divided into stages. In the first one, the landing hill, water installation for snowing and sprinkling plastic mattings will be renovated. This phase is expected to be completed before the beginning of January.

– We want the World Cup to be carried out without any complications. We will store the artificial snow cover on the facility in Wisła-Malinka on an ongoing basis. In addition, there are also new opportunities for snow production on the cross-country track in Kubalonka. We protect ourselves against capricious January aura. However, I believe the weather will be fine. In addition, the competition can be played without mattings. Nothing will happen if it is laid out only in the spring – explained Laszczak.

Later, the ropeway at the ski jump will be replaced, it is supposed to be safer. The entire renovation will cost PLN 53 million. It will be paid for with public money and is expected to last less than a year.

– We plan to complete the renovation in June 2024. If everything goes according to plan, we will close the works in less than a year. The investment will cost approximately PLN 53 million gross. This is fully financed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. It must be taken into account that half of the money will go to the railway. It will be an inclined lift, similar to the one from the Bergisel ski jump in Innsbruck – revealed the director of COS OPO.

The renovated ski jump in Wisła is part of a larger plan to create a top-quality ski resort in Poland, where even the Nordic World Ski Championships can be organized in the future.

– A new project is being created in Wisła. There is also a plan to expand the cross-country trails. In a few years, the Wisła-Szczyrk complex will be able to organize World Cup competitions. In two or three years, we will be prepared in terms of infrastructure to organize championship events, including the world championships, at COS facilities – added Laszczak.

The World Cup competition in Wisła is to take place on January 13-14, 2024 as part of the Polish Tour. One duet competition and one individual competition are planned.
