In Shimano’s blue cars, love for cycling is the engine

Shimano Cues concepts are all about simplicity, versatility and durability

For more than 100 years, Shimano components have helped shape and improve the everyday experience of millions of cyclists around the world. Now we take it one step further by introducing Shimano Cues, a completely new take on the brand’s mid-range line of MTB components.

Redesigned from the ground up, the system consolidates our various 9-, 10-, and 11-speed drivetrains into a unified ecosystem of compatible parts.

Thanks to our highly durable LINKGLIDE technology, it offers a smoother shift, longer-lasting components, and more standardized compatibility between different categories.

A simple system

It consolidates Shimano’s 9, 10 and 11 speed drivetrains into a single unified ecosystem of components.

Shimano Cues use common components across all drivetrains to reduce overall complexity and the number of products.

For example, the drivetrains use traditional derailleur pulleys, sprockets and chains, which reduces store inventories and simplifies the maintenance process for mid-range bikes. This means that the chances that bike shops have parts to repair your bike are increased.

A versatile system

We’ve created our most compatible and versatile line of components ever. Certain components can be interchanged between more user groups and riding styles, opening up new possibilities for specifying component combinations.

The Shimano Cues lineup offers unified cassette spacing for 9-, 10-, and 11-speed drivetrains, so components can be interchanged among more user groups and riding styles. This allows new possibilities to specify component combinations that suit more riders.

A durable system

SHIMANO CUES focuses on our LINKGLIDE technology, which is the most durable drivetrain treatment we offer. Cassettes and chains are built to withstand daily wear and tear, extending their life and offering smooth, intuitive shifting on both muscle and e-bikes (and their super-high torque).

Shimano LINKGLIDE technology improves the overall shifting experience thanks to a completely new tooth design that guides the chain up and down the length of the cassette. Riders of all skill levels can experience SHIMANO’s top level of shifting, as LINKGLIDE is designed to shift smoothly in any direction, under high load.

As Shimano’s most durable drivetrain technology, LINKGLIDE has taller and thicker cassette teeth, giving you more contact surface with the chain. This reduces the chance of chain jump and distributes pedaling forces, preventing premature shifting wear from inexperienced riders. Smoother shifting also helps extend the life of SHIMANO CUES components, so riders don’t have to replace components as often, can spend more time riding, and don’t have as negative an impact on the world around us.
