The professionals at Hertha can only dream of such results at the moment. After three games in the 2nd Bundesliga, the relegated team has zero points. Coach Pál Dárdai’s team didn’t even score a goal. In the final days of the transfer window, Hertha wants to strengthen the sparse midfield in order to reverse the trend and attack the top half of the table.

But the club decided in March 2023 not to want to get promoted in the case of the regional league championship. The promotion is “not sensible at this point in time from a financial, infrastructural or sporting point of view with regard to the development of young players”.
The “Bild” newspaper wrote of internal calculations, according to which 2.5 to 3 million euros would be due to enable promotion. That was too expensive for those responsible.
