Henner Misersky is dead: He led an anti-doping fight in the GDR – Sport

Henner Misersky used the moment of greatest triumph for a remarkable performance. In February 1992, his daughter Antje Gold, who he coached, won over 15 kilometers of biathlon at the Winter Games in Albertville, after which the two contested the usual media rounds – including a conversation in the ARD television studio. There, in front of an audience of millions, Misersky denounced with impressive clarity the great sin of the newly reunited sport: dealing with all the doping and Stasi-loaded trainers in the GDR, who German sport could not integrate quickly enough into its structures because he absolutely wanted to continue using their skills – for a medal rush in the new Germany.
