“We send our most sincere hugs to Olga and her family in a moment of deep pain,” added the Federation, which closed its statement with words for the architect of the Spanish world title.

“We love you, Olga, you are the history of Spanish football,” concluded the RFEF.

Carmona, a very interesting wing marker, was the author of the goal against England in the World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand, which gave Spain the title. Paradoxes of fate, she had dedicated her lot to the mother of one of her best friends who had also recently passed away. She still did not know of her personal misfortune.

Carmona, 23, had already been one of the key players in Spain’s victory in the World Cup. In the semifinals, the defender of Real Madrid had marked Sweden the final 2-1 with which the Red agreed to the definition of the contest.
