Haas announced on Thursday morning that Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hülkenberg will again be the team’s driver duo in 2024. Both experienced drivers had an expiring contract, but will return to the grid next season.
Gunther Steiner, Haas team principal, commented on keeping both drivers for 2024. “I think it’s safe to say that we’ve had an extremely solid driver duo this season in Formula 1 and ultimately there was no reason to change that.” Steiner said. “Kevin is clearly a familiar name to us and I am delighted to have him returning for what will be his seventh season in the Haas colours. With 113 starts for our team alone, we know where his strengths lie and his knowledge and experience of our organization fit very well with that too.On the other side of the garage Nico has fitted in without a fuss or fanfare and has proven himself to be a valuable member of the team.He is approaching 200 starts in Formula 1 and we are very pleased that we can benefit from that experience behind the wheel.”

Response drivers
Magnussen is happy to be an F1 driver in 2024 as well. “I am of course very happy that my relationship with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team is once again extended. My return in 2022 came unexpectedly, but was filled with countless highlights. And while this season has not gone quite as we had hoped, we are still in it managed to get into the points and we showed that we have potential with the package we have.” Hülkenberg is also looking forward to 2024. “It’s nice to have things in order early for next season so we can continue to focus on racing and improving performance. I’m happy to be part of the team and share the passion from Gene and Guenther. We’re competing in a very tight midfield and I look forward to building on what we’ve done together so far and taking that further into 2024.”
Grid 2024
With this announcement, there are still five seats to be filled before 2024. There are still two seats available at AlphaTauri, although Yuki Tsunoda is expected to return in any case. There is also an open seat at Mercedes, but there is a good chance that Lewis Hamilton will also fill this seat in 2024. At Alfa Romeo and Williams, Zhou Guanyu and Logan Sargeant also have no contract after this season. However, Alfa Romeo has already indicated that it would like to continue with the driver duo of 2023, giving Zhou a good chance. The future of Sargeant and the second seat next to Tsunoda at AlphaTauri is still uncertain.
