Goalless Draw: Grigiorossi and Rossoblù Battle to a Stalemate at the Zini

At the Zini the test between the Grigiorossi and the Rossoblù ends without goals. Ballardini’s team was much more orderly and tried constantly to find a way to score throughout the match. At a distance, Genoa disappeared and withdrew behind favoring the phrasing of Bertolacci and his companions.

CREMONA Good performance by Cremonese against Genoa even if there was no goal that would have rewarded the efforts made by Ballardini’s team. The Grigiorossi tried more insistently than Genoa to look for the goal, but in the end the level friendly test ended 0-0.

Fairly fun match because, apart from a few too many mistakes in the disengagement phase on both sides, the two teams didn’t give up on building and trying. More Cremonese in the offensive phase than Genoa but the goal didn’t come. In the 4th minute Sarr saved a central shot from Retegui favored by a wrong pass from Okereke. In the 11th minute, Genoa made a mistake and the ball went to Collocolo who opened up to Vazquez whose shot was high. In the 16th minute Collocolo took a solitary initiative who presented himself on the edge of the area and finished but the shot was deflected for a corner. In the 20th minute Zanimacchia’s free-kick was rejected, then in the 40th minute Okereke recovered the ball for Quagliata who hits the target in the area, Bertolacci controls but shoots the diagonal just wide.

In the second half, Genoa drops in a conspicuous way and leaves Cremonese room for maneuver who often reaches the opposing area without finding the winning jab. Few actions worthy of note but Gilardino’s team suffered the tactical order and phrasing of Ballardini’s men who almost never got in the way of counterattacks or excessively exposed. A test that gave good indications even if in the offensive trident Vazquez often had to retreat to look for the ball and in fact was unable to play well as a first striker. In addition to a high shot in the first half, the Argentine never went on target. Zanimacchia did well on the flanks, Okereke was more clumsy. Once entered, Tsadjout was deployed as a left winger and asserted his physicality. Beautiful buck also from Quagliata.

The mechanisms need to be oiled when the athletic condition reaches top, but in view of the first official match of the Italian Cup at the Zini stadium, the public enjoyed seeing an attentive, concentrated and in any case courageous team.
