Geila Macià reaches second place in the boulder youth world championship

The Indoorwall Team athlete Geila Maciàfrom Sant Marti de Tous (Barcelona), has achieved an outstanding second place in the world youth block championship, recently held in Korea. This achievement comes after his third place in the rope modality last Sunday.

The block final was an exciting battle in which only two competitors managed to overcome three of the four proposed blockss by the test outfitters. Geila demonstrated her level and perseverance by securing second place. The Catalan climber was on the verge of achieving the first drawer of the position if she had made the first boulder in which she fell throwing the last hold.

The gold medal was awarded to Analise Van Hoang of the United States., who completed three blocks and a zone in 5 and 6 attempts. Geila, with a total of 11 attempts, completed three blocks to take second place. The third position went to the Japanese Natsumi Oda, who cleared two blocks and three zones.

This achievement is historic, as Geila Macià has won two medals in this championship of the junior world, marking the best result of a Spanish girl in a world championship. Itziar Martinez, from Valladolid, has achieved the third position in the block of the sub 20 category.

Geila had to make a comeback with respect to the result he had in the block semifinals. In them, she went to the final in third place and managed to overcome a position to finally finish second. With this second position and the third that she obtained in rope, Geila has been in second place in the Overall (combining the two disciplines) of this world championship.

These two medals represent an even more creditable triumph given the challenges Geila faced last year. An emergency operation for appendicitis prevented him from participating in the world championships in Dallas, which makes his current success all the more admirable. He has known how to overcome this experience, train hard and arrive in Korea in full physical and mental condition to face the challenges.

Geila prepares for her next international competition: the European Lead ChampionshipWhat will be celebrated in Finland during the third weekend of September. This competition will not only mark the end of your competition season, but will also allow you to focus on your rock climbing projects.
