Former Arsenal and England Striker Theo Walcott Announces Retirement at Age 34

Striker Theo Walcott, former player of Arsenal and the England national team, announced his retirement from football this Friday, aged 34.

Walcott stood out from a young age for his speed. After a long spell at the Gunners, from 2006 to 2018, he played for Everton (2018-2020) before returning to Southampton, the club that revealed him.

“The support I have received over these years has been incredible in every way imaginable and I am truly grateful,” said the player in a message posted on Instagram.

Walcott was the youngest player to wear the shirt of the England national team, for which he made 47 appearances and scored eight goals, when he was called up in 2006 aged 17 years and 75 days.

After that startling start, he suffered from injuries until he ended his career with Southampton’s relegation last season.
